The next scheduled Negotiation Meeting with Flight Services International (FSI) management was scheduled for June 6th for three days. However, this meeting was cancelled by the company due to a conflict in their attorney’s schedule. This is not the first time this has happened. After the company’s cancellation, your Negotiating Team sent a request to increase our negotiating schedule to at least two sessions per month. We proposed ten, potential three-day sessions, from available dates, through the end of August. The company has not responded to our requests.
We voted to join the Transport Workers Union (TWU) because we wanted a voice to fight for fair wages, work rules, and due process in our workplace. Since then, your Negotiating Team has gone to the table with professional proposals reflecting the priorities of our FSI Flight Attendants and recognizing our work group for the contributions we make daily to FSI and Atlas Air.
Unfortunately, FSI management has not matched our commitment to negotiate a fair contract. In addition to delays; refusal to schedule meetings; and cancellations and stalling, FSI management does not even show up to the table. The FSI CEO, Joni Ffrench, has not attended negotiations for over a year. On top of that, the attorney hired by Ms. Ffrench often puts proposals on the table that are concessionary and disrespectful to our hard working Flight Attendants, many whom have not had a raise in five years.
It is time for us to take the strength of our united Flight Attendants with us to the table. If you would like to join the front line to support your Negotiating Team, please join the Contract Action Team (CAT). We need to involve as many Flight Attendants as possible to support your Negotiating Team at the table and online. We will hold CAT trainings soon.
We are also holding an informal meeting with members of your Negotiating Team on Thursday, June 7 at The Brick House, 140 FM 1960 Bypass Rd E, Humble, TX 77338 from 2:00 to 4:00. Please come and bring your questions and ideas for your Negotiating Team. Refreshments will be provided by the TWU.
Please pass this message on to any FSI Flight Attendant who is not getting email updates, and encourage them to sign up with their email address at 5y.twu.org.
