Happy Pride Month from TWU Local 578

Pride Month is an annual celebration of the many contributions made by the LGBTQIA+ community to history, society and cultures worldwide. The origin of Pride Month began in Manhattan after the Stonewall riots, a series of gay liberation protests in June of 1969, and has since spread outside of the United States. The first Pride march was held on June 28, 1970, in New York City on the one-year anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising. Today Pride Month honors both the movement for LGBTQIA+ rights as well as celebrating the culture. Continue reading

Dear FSI Flight Attendants,

Nominations for the TWU Local 578 Officers Special Election for Vice President and Financial Secretary/Treasurer are now open. A nomination form is now available on the TWU Local 578 website.

All nominations must be sent via email to 578election@twuatd.org. Nominations will close at 9AM Central on May 31, 2023.

  • $26.00 per month. It is important to recognize what makes TWU different from other unions is that under our Constitution, 70% of dues are then turned back over to your local to meet their expenses.

Meet your New President – Sharolyn Stanley

Howdy!

As your new TWU Local 578 President, here is a bit of info about me and my goals for our Union. I originally ran for and won the position of Vice President. Due to the person elected President not being able to accept the position, I accepted the position of President as dictated by our Bylaws. In addition, the elected Financial Secretary Treasurer was not able to accept his position, so we will be holding election for both positions. Details for the elections will be coming soon.

Assault Won’t Fly – Stop Flight Attendant Assaults Now!

Hi Fellow FSI Flight Attendant,

Today marks one year since a judge struck down the federal mask mandate on airplanes, and yet, flight crews report new attacks by unruly passengers every single day. While these are not problems we face on our military flights, in a recent TWU survey, over HALF of TWU Flight Attendants from Southwest, JetBlue, and Allegiant said they experienced or observed harassment or assault while working in the past year.

Coalition of TWU Flight Attendants Meet In Washington DC

TWU flight attendant leaders from Southwest Airlines, Allegiant, Flight Services International and JetBlue met at the TWU International Headquarters in Washington, DC for the second Coalition of TWU Flight Attendants in April. The Presidents, Health and Safety Chairpersons, and Legislative Affairs Chairpersons from Locals 556, 577, 579, and our newest Local, 578 met for two days to discuss and collaborate on the priorities of our flight attendants. TWU Local 578 Officer Election Ballots Have Been Mailed

Ballots were mailed out on December 12 for the TWU Local 578 Election of Officers, Executive Board Members, and Convention Delegates. If you have not received yours already, it should arrive by U.S. Postal Mail with the address that was on file with TWU as of November 15, 2022 at 12:00 CST.

If you receive a ballot and have any issues or believe there may be an error, please contact TWU International Vice President and Election Liaison Thom McDaniel, at 578election@twuatd.org. Also, any eligible Member who has not received their ballot by December 22, 2022 should email TWU International Vice President and Election Liaison Thom McDaniel, at 578election@twuatd.org to request a replacement ballot.
