Happy Pride Month from TWU Local 578

Pride Month is an annual celebration of the many contributions made by the LGBTQIA+ community to history, society and cultures worldwide. The origin of Pride Month began in Manhattan after the Stonewall riots, a series of gay liberation protests in June of 1969, and has since spread outside of the United States. The first Pride march was held on June 28, 1970, in New York City on the one-year anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising. Today Pride Month honors both the movement for LGBTQIA+ rights as well as celebrating the culture.

Our LGBTQIA+ flight attendants bring immeasurable value to our team and the skies we soar through. Your unwavering dedication to providing exceptional service while being your authentic selves is nothing short of inspiring. Your presence and contributions enrich our airline, creating an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and respected.

This Pride Month, let us recognize the courage and resilience of our LGBTQIA+ flight attendants who have faced unique challenges along their journeys. Your unwavering spirit to live authentically and be true to yourselves is a testament to your strength and determination. By sharing your stories and experiences, you have paved the way for greater acceptance and understanding within our industry and beyond.

As we celebrate Pride Month, we also invite you to consider joining Pride at Work, a prominent organization dedicated to fostering an inclusive and supportive work environment for LGBTQIA+ individuals. Pride at Work advocates for fair treatment, equal rights, and social justice within the workplace, empowering LGBTQIA+ workers across industries. By becoming a part of this organization, you can further contribute to the advancement of LGBTQIA+ rights and support their important work.

Together, let us soar higher, break barriers, and continue to create a work environment that embraces and celebrates the richness of human diversity. Happy Pride Month to all our LGBTQIA+ flight attendants and to the entire flight attendant community.
